German player over whelmed by Iranians` enthusiastic welcome

IRNA - German national football team defender Christian Woerns said he was simply overwhelmed by the ecstatic welcome of thousands of Iranians who waited for hours at Tehran`s International Mehrabad Airport to catch a glimpse of the triple Word Cup champs. 
"I have never experienced anything like this. This is really impressive and overwhelming," the German sports website sport1 quoted the seasoned veteran as saying Thursday evening, only moments after the German national squad landed in Tehran. 
This is the first-ever Iran visit by the German national football team. 
Both sides faced one another during the group matches of the 1998 World Cup in France which Germany won 2-0.
